Things to know before you arrive

No, and you won't need it. The houses are built in thick stone that insulates naturally and stay very cool when closed during the day. Every room has a fan and the natural breeze does the rest. We had guests from Canada in August... they came back the following year!

Yes, a car is essential. Mascaratu is in the hills, 3 km from the sea, and the last stretch is on a dirt road. Nothing complicated, but leave the sports car at home. A taxi driver brought guests at 2 AM and found the way without any issues.

We're in the countryside, in Sardinia, in summer. So yes ants, the occasional wasp at dusk, fireflies. It's part of the place. If you're looking for a sterile environment, Mascaratu isn't for you (but you'd be missing out).

Simona or Filippo welcome you in person even late if needed. They show you the house, hand you the keys, and then you're free.

Mascaratu works like a big boat: well, cisterns, rainwater collection. Water is always available, but we use it with respect. Showers yes, waste no.

Yes. Our dogs and cats will be happy to have company.

Absolutely. The pool is the heart of Mascaratu for families. The grounds are large and safe. Cots and extra beds available on request.

How to reach us
Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) - 30 minutes by car
Olbia or Golfo Aranci port - 30-40 minutes by car
SS125 between Palau and Arzachena, exit for Mascaratu locality. The last stretch is on a dirt road (about 2 km). We'll send you precise directions on WhatsApp.
Rental car recommended. No sports cars or very low vehicles.
